Love Community
Hello! To enhance Chico’s sense of place and civic pride through small, high-impact improvement projects that bring together artists, youth, and local partners — strengthening community identity while physically improving shared spaces.
Each year, the Love Community Committee will select one or two collaborative “placemaking” projects that improve Chico’s visual landscape and community spirit. Projects are chosen for their ability to connect people, showcase creativity, and demonstrate Love Chico’s “quiet doer” philosophy — small but meaningful work that leaves a visible mark of care.
Typical process:
Project Selection: Committee identifies opportunities in partnership with schools, arts organizations, non-profits and city departments.
Partner Coordination: Love Chico facilitates collaboration among community groups, education, businesses and local artists, providing project structure, minor funding, and volunteer organization.
Implementation: Projects are designed and executed with a focus on inclusion — especially youth and foster involvement — while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Recognition: Completed projects receive subtle signage or media acknowledgment (e.g., “A Love Chico Community Project”), reinforcing civic pride without heavy promotion.
Goal:
To demonstrate how collaboration, creativity, and care can transform shared spaces — reinforcing Chico as a community where art, service, and heart meet on every block.
