Love Fundraising
Volunteer!
Connecting volunteers with tangible, hands-on projects that make a visible, practical difference in Chico — projects that express compassion through action, often in partnership with local nonprofits and businesses.
The Love Service Committee will identify and coordinate a Volunteer Day Project — a focused, one-day effort where community volunteers come together to complete a specific improvement or service activity. Projects will be selected for immediate impact and strong partnership potential, emphasizing teamwork over ceremony.
Typical process:
· Project Selection: The Committee evaluates opportunities submitted by community partners (city, schools, nonprofits, or businesses) and chooses one that fits Love Chico’s mission and capacity.
· Partner Coordination: Love Chico helps line up a collaborating organization (e.g., City Parks, CARD, Salvation Army, schools, sports) and a volunteer lead — someone like Larry Graack or another experienced project coordinator.
· Volunteer Mobilization: Volunteers sign up through Love Chico’s website or partner channels; teams are assigned, materials organized, and the project is completed in one concentrated effort.
· Recognition: The emphasis remains on quiet pride — a small plaque or photo shared online afterward, highlighting partnership and results rather than fanfare.
Sample Projects:
· Facility or Grounds Project: Collaborate with the City, CARD, or PBID to complete a physical project — e.g., painting, small park upgrades, or building repairs — selected by the committee and executed by local volunteers.
· Community Uplift Partnership: Work with Salvation Army and local clothing retailer Chico’s to further the two organizations efforts in providing gently used or new business attire for women completing rehab and job training programs, educating the women on appropriate attire for work, possibly doing a lunch/fashion show.
· Service Organization Collaboration: Assist a nonprofit partner with a cleanup, delivery, or improvement project that benefits clients directly.
Goal:
Through consistent Volunteer Day Projects, Love Chico becomes known as a trusted convener and finisher — an organization that doesn’t just talk about service, but quietly gets projects done alongside others.
